Al Gore's Current TV news agency

Has anyone considered how much time, energy, prestige, and money the U.S. has spent rescuing Current TV reporters? I am not saying that the U.S. should not do it; just asking about the costs. We have had Laura Ling and Euna Lee; and Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Joshua Fattal.
